Probing antiferromagnetic coupling between nanomagnets

摘要
We have performed an experimental study into magnetostatic coupling between Permalloy nanomagnets arranged in linear chains. By engineering the anisotropy of each nanomagnet, the nanomagnets can be forced to couple in an anti ferromagnetic arrangement. Using an experimental method, we show that the antiferromagnetic coupling is perfect for the first four nanomagnets in the chain, but thereafter phase defects arise. Differences between the information transmission capability of ferromagnetic coupling and anti ferromagnetic coupling are discussed.
