摘要
X-ray elemental maps are used with single-point abrasion tests of a nickel-based superalloy, exposed to air at 850C, to demonstrate how high-temperature oxidation products form differently on damaged and non-damaged tribosurfaces. These findings complement previous work on the nature of sliding combined with oxidation. Results have implications for modeling the wear processes of exhaust valves in internal combustion engines.
