摘要
Museums are cultural attractors, which attract visitors often to the extent that they are able to catalyze the development of tourism and overall economic development of the locality where they are situated. Their attractiveness can operate at two levels - at the level of collection and at that of building. The British Museum, Louvre, the Hermitage Museum, MoMA, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Whitney Museum - this is just a small representative sample of high credit museums. Was it the collection or the spectacular object that was standing at the birth of these legends and helped to create them? Is it one of these levels or - as it is in most cases is it the synergy of both factors that is more important? Certainly, there are more questions to be answered. When can we talk about a rising legend? After its creation what helps to spread its reputation? What can it be used for? In addition to many questions the stories of renowned museum institutions provide space for interesting reflections. Often the story of these museums is that of a sustainable development and growth, which is the external manifestation of their vitality and ensures their ongoing interest of visitors necessary for their survival.
