Effect of nitrogen nutrition on yield and some physiological parameters in rye plants

The paper reports the results of experiments on the rate of photosynthesis, respiration, nitrate reductase activity and plant productivity depending on nitrogen nutrition. The main aim of investigations was the estimation of N effect on translocation of assimilates and their final accumulation in the grain. Improvement of nitrogen fertilization early in the spring increased dry matter in the rye plants and grain yield but to a lesser degree than it might be expected taking into consideration the increase in their carbon dioxide fixation.
