摘要
In the digital age, crafting a fine art without exceptional artistic skills can be possible. Evolutionary art applies evolution process that allows fascinating creatures in nature to synthesize artworks. For artistic creation problem, it is difficult to determine the mathematical fitness function that can truly reflect the performance of a solution; user satisfaction is often brought in as a factor in the evaluation of solution. Using user-directed method to create an artwork can consume a great amount of time and resource. In this study, we propose an evolutionary-algorithm based method for pointillism artistic creation that can reduce the need of frequent user evaluation and, hence, can reduce time consumption. The proposed method includes the artistic style as a part of fitness evaluation to allow automatic evaluation of the solutions; user interaction is still required but only to direct the creation. Therefore, Growing Art is a semi-auto evolutionary art tool for pointillism style that requires less interacting time between user and the application. Experiments are conducted to demonstrate the efficiency of the tool.
