摘要
The adoption of power electronic devices in most AC-DC power networks have caused power quality (PQ) issues such as harmonics, unbalance and low power factor. These issues should be solved by the most suitable compensation technology to guarantee the best compensation result. It is common that more than one PQ issue will be caused at a supply bus, usually with some issues affecting more than the others at different time of the day which depends on load flow and load compositions. Therefore, different compensation technologies should be used at different time of day to ensure the best compensation result at all time. This paper designs a switch-controlled hybrid power quality compensator to guarantee all-day best compensation for AC-DC networks. The hybrid PQ compensator is composed of multiple compensators with different functionalities and controlled by switches. The subjective-objective methodology (SOM) is used to determine which compensation technologies should be adopted at different times of day. Based on the decision, the switches will behave and the corresponding compensators will be connected or disconnected for compensation.
