摘要：

Efforts to make Ethernet, that can meet real-time requirements, is discussed. It is believed that in shared Ethernet, collisions lead to unpredictable communication delays. It is suggested that moving from shared Ethernet to fully switched Ethernet can meet the real time requirements. It is also suggested that another aspect to be considered when using switched Ethernet for real-time application, is the wiring topology of such networks.
