摘要
The H.265/HEVC is the state of the art video compression standard, which allows the bitrate reduction up to 50% with equal perceptual video quality compared with its predecessor. Due to its complexity, the H.265/HEVC encoder must cope with the plurality of features and available prediction modes. The potential acceleration of the encoding process could be achieved by skipping some prediction modes and introducing simplifications in search and mode decision. Therefore, in development of video encoders, the trade-off between quality and complexity must be considered. This paper presents the analysis of the reduction of the number of checked prediction and partitioning modes in inter prediction and transformation in the hardware H.265/HEVC encoder.
