The article brings results of the empirical survey made by students from the Department of Psychology, Palacky University in Olomouc. Public opinions and attitudes toward the profession of psychologists and physicians are, despite the general awareness (due popularization activities) or personal experience completely different. The aim of this study was to point out through Internet research on the specific differences in opinions and attitudes to the two mentioned professions. The data collection was compiled by their own questionnaire, which contained 23 questions. The data analysis used 400 valid questionnaires. The most frequently represented age category was 18-25 years, of which 69% were women. The social positions of dominance in the research were set of students (62.8%) and employees (26.7%). The study results generally indicate that the profession of doctor is perceived as more prestigious, while among men and women, and also students and staff has not been demonstrated statistically significant difference in the perception of prestige of these professions.
