摘要
The wireless broadband access Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) has been an alternative to cable and DSL. In this paper, a novel design of a compact planar monopole antenna for WiMAX portable device is presented. The antenna has a circular shape patch and is fed through a 50 ohm microstrip feedline. The 3.3 GHz band is achieved by incorporating an inverted E-slot etched on the microstrip feed line. The proposed antenna is having a compact size of 23 x 23 x 1.6 mm. The antenna has been successfully designed and simulated. The simulated results of current distribution is studied. The radiation pattern is omni-directional and the gain of the antenna is stable across the whole operating frequency band. The designed antenna provides 40 dB return loss and gain of 1.5 dBi for the frequency of 3.3 GHz. The paper is divided into 3 sections. Initially an overview of the WiMAX technology and literature survey based on the application [1-5] and antenna type [6-10] are discussed in section 1. Then in section 2 WiMAX antenna design procedures and its results are discussed. Then finally in section 3 its concluded stating all the results achieved through the simulation of the antenna.
