摘要：

Neural networks with various architectures are considered from the standpoint of their ability to recognize a handwritten cyrillic text. Various approaches to the extraction of characteristic features are analyzed. On the basis of a large number of experiments, the conclusion is made that neural networks provide a promising basis of optical character recognition systems.
