Under the guidance of modern teaching theory, teaching reform of many disciplines becomes more comprehensive and scientific. In recent decades, China has established an open, integrated teaching theory system, in order to solve various contradictions in teaching practice and teaching theory, which provides a blueprint and guide to the reform in many aspects of education and the corresponding teaching links. The study and practice of modern teaching theory in China start late, so there is still some space for the reform and innovation in the field of piano teaching. Only by better achieving piano teaching reform on the basis of modern teaching theory can piano teaching be promoted continuously, and can innovative artistic talents meeting social needs be cultivated. Piano teaching is a discipline in the field of art, which has important cultural practice significance for people's views and ideas and the cultivation of fundamental art cell. But in the field of arts teaching in China, there has been the defect of using traditional teaching mode to lead the art development. This teaching defect causes that students cannot achieve all-round development nor adapt to the constant updating of art field well. Furthermore, the obstacle of traditional teaching concept results in that Chinese art teaching stays in the cradle of old ideas, cannot advance with the times, and has no possibility to apply outstanding and innovative ideas of Western culture. The above situation is the main cause for long-term stopping and no major innovation of Chinese art development. Thus, piano teaching urgently needs newer and more scientific modern teaching theory as the guide of reform. Realizing the combination between modern teaching theory and art teaching practice in art teaching is conducive to developing a new teaching mode and also can achieve the goal of using teaching theory to promote art teaching innovation. Only in this way can the continuous improvement of Chinese art teaching be realized, better teaching results be produced, and better teaching purposes be achieved. And this teaching method and mode can explore more innovative ideas for Chinese teaching theory, and provide power and basis for art education reform.
