Molecular conformations and optical properties of polysilanes

摘要
The interplay between macromolecular conformation and the sensitivity of silane copolymers in solution to visible (scattered) light was studied. Relationship between the conformation of macromolecules, solubility parameter, and light sensitivity of polysilanes was established. The extent and the rate of degradation of polysilane molecules were found to be independent of the solvent type (toluene, n-heptane, isooctane). It was established that long-term irradiation of polysilane solutions causes the branching of polymer, which is most intense in isooctane.
