摘要
The effects of starch/SiO2 nanoparticle blends on the adhesion of starch to polyester and cotton fibers were investigated in terms of bonding strength and work-to-break of a slightly-sized roving. The influences of SiO2 nanoparticle mass content, SiO2-aggregated particle size, and starch sources on adhesion were evaluated. The addition of nano-sized particles into starch pastes improved the adhesion. Adhesion increased as the mass content ratio of SiO2 nanoparticles to starch initially increased, reached a maximum range of 0.5%-1.0%, and then gradually decreased. Reducing the size of aggregated nanoparticles improved adhesion. Starch sources also affected the adhesion. Corn starch, cassava starch, and potato starch were superior to wheat starch in enhancing the adhesion.
