Theoretical work on magnetocaloric effect in ceramic and sol-gel La0.67Ca0.33MnO3

In this study, a theoretical work on magnetocaloric properties of ceramic and sol-gel La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 samples was presented. The value of the magnetocaloric effect has been determined from theoretical work on magnetization as a function of temperature. It is showed that ceramic sample shows better magnetocaloric properties than the sol-gel one. Though the maximum magnetic entropy change a dagger S (M) of ceramic sample upon 5 kOe applied field variation which is about 76 % of that of a pure Gd metal upon 5 kOe, a dagger S (M) distribution of the La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 is much more uniform than that of Gd. This feature is desirable for an Ericson-cycle magnetic refrigerator.
