Enhancement of the transport critical current density in a YBa2Cu3Ox ceramic by electron irradiation under remanent magnetic fields

The transport critical current density of YBa(2)CusO(x) ceramic was measured at zero external field and various temperatures from 15 to 90 K and then at temperatures from 90 to 15 K; after application of a constant magnetic field of 1.0 T at about 15 K. The critical current density was enhanced by 3 MeV electron irradiation at doses of up to 4.0 x 10(21) m(-2) during cooling from 0 to 15 K under the remanent magnetic fields induced by externally applied fields of up to 0.05 T, whereas the critical current density deceased markedly at low temperatures during heating to 90 K.
