摘要
Owing to unrelenting and ubiquitous emerging human activities, our environment is facing serious threats from organic pollutants. Industrial wastes are posing a major challenge to the availability of clean and safe water for human consumption and industrial use all over the world. One of the most consumed natural resources by man is water. As such, wastewater treatment is crucial to obtain a quality that can be used for multiple purposes ranging from drinking, watering to irrigation. Therefore, water is essential to sustainable development. Recently, several studies have been reported about the photocatalytic degradation application of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for remediation of organic substances in water and wastewater. The surge in the numbers of reported reviews of this field owes to two factors: the morphological characteristics of MOFs which enhances removal as well as catalytic ability which supports degradation. This study gives an elaborate explanation of recent reports by researchers about the utilization of metal-organic frameworks for degradation (photocatalytic) and adsorption of substances that are organic. In conclusion, this review is produced with consideration of available targeted organic pollutants as well as pollutants released by industries, households, and the agricultural sector.
