Automatic detection of stereotypical motor movements

This paper presents the development of a methodology to automatically detect stereotypical motor movements in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It was used the Microsoft Kinect sensor and gesture recognition algorithms, Dynamic Time warping (DTW), to automatically detect in real time hand flapping and body rocking. The presented approach facilitates to identify behavioural patterns special relevant when studying interaction skills in children with ASD.
