摘要
In order to cover up the deficiencies of gray-based license plate location algorithm, a new idea of using color mapping was presented. This method reduced the color information to colors using in license plate,such as black, white, blue, yellow and red. So it can retained the most effective information in license plate location while greatly simplifying the original data. Experiment result shows that this algorithm will improve the contrast between background and character in license plate area so as to enhance the plate location accuracy,only slightly increasing the computing time.Especially in the situations that is too dark or overexposure, it have good results. At the same time, the algorithm has excellent parallel properties.Through multi-core optimization, the speedup ratio is approximate 1.7 on 2-Core platform.
