摘要：
Atherosclerosis is a slowly progressive disease. Therefore, surrogate end-points are used in cardiovascular trials. Of the techniques currently in use, intima-media thickness measurement and flow-mediated vasodilatation are reviewed, and the results obtained with these techniques placed in a clinical perspective.
