摘要
Green tea is a product obtained from the leaves and shoots of the Camellia sinensis plant and has stood out as one of the most widely consumed beverages around the world. Recent studies show many health benefits associated with daily consumption of green tea due to the presence of polyphenolic compounds in its composition. Catechins are phytonutrients of the polyphenols family found abundantly in green tea, which has been arising increasing interest in the scientific community due to the occurrence of a variety of biological activities, possibly playing an important role in the pathogenesis of several chronic diseases related to inflammation, possibly for the role as inflammatory factors suppressor such as nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappa B). Studies indicate catechins as modulating the inflammatory response in some autoimmune diseases tests. Thus, this study aims to evaluate green tea's anti-inflammatory potential in experimental models of muscle injury.
