Editor's note: Disparity refers to the fact, that, for example, human beings see an object from a different angle with the left eye and the right eye. The disparity es-timation in images produces a computationally intensive effort. The HEVC disparity estimation can be analyzed according to its efficient implementa-tion and high throughput. Disparity estimation is one crucial part of HEVC, and the optimization in terms of throughput affects, therefore, the complete realization on hardware. --Michael Hubner, Brandenburg University of Technology
