The present study examined the relation of religiousness with personality dimensions of the HEXACO and the Big Five models. From the Big Five, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness were associated with higher religiosity, whereas from the HEXACO, Honesty-Humility was the strongest correlate of religiosity, followed by Agreeableness. The HEXACO model showed a moderately large advantage in predicting individual differences in religiousness. This study provided some additional construct validity of the HEXACO Honesty-Humility factor as well as the religious orientation paradigm. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
