摘要
The current interruption process in a high voltage circuit breaker (HVCB) uses the arc energy to build gas pressure necessary for arc extinction. It is followed by the dielectric recovery. Here, dielectric recovery characteristics are analyzed for power test duties with 30% and 100% of the rated short circuit current. The analysis uses computational fluid dynamics and electric field simulations together with a streamer and leader inception models to deduce the characteristic breakdown voltage during recovery. The predicted pressure build-up and breakdown voltage are in agreement with the measurement. Finally the present status and limitations of the approach have been discussed.
