摘要：

In 2005, the first edition of AWWA Manual of Water Supply Practices M53, Microfiltration and Ultrafiltration Membranes for Drinking Water, was published. The manual was prepared by the AWWA Membrane Process Committee in response to the need for a consolidated source of information about membrane filtration spanning a broad range of relevant subject areas. Because the use of microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) in potable water treatment applications has expanded rapidly since the mid-1990s, both in terms of capacity and number of installations, a comprehensive MF/UF resource for the water treatment industry had become imperative.
