Can the US 'shale revolution' be replicated elsewhere? Many energy experts consider Argentina (ranked in the 'top 5' in terms of global shale oil and gas endowment) as a potential shale 'giant'. By analysing the regulatory challenges posed by unconventional hydrocarbons and assessing the current business and legal situation in the Argentinian oil and gas sector, this paper provides a tool to understand the challenges shale has brought to the 'land of the tango'.
