摘要：

The presence of usnic acid in the lichen Usnea laevis Nyl, from the Venezuelan Andes was detected through chromotographic (TLC) and spectroscopic (IR, MS, H-1-NMR) methods. This compound was present in a concentration of 2.7% in the thallus. Usnic acid has a reported antibiotic activity and the lichen is utilized for medicinal purposes by Andean farmers.
