Thermodynamics for the preparation of micron-sized monodispersed highly monomer-'adsorbed' polymer particles utilizing the dynamic swelling method

In previous articles, micron-sized monodispersed composite polymer particles were produced by seeded polymerizations for highly monomer-swollen polymer particles, in which the seed particle dissolves, prepared by the dynamic swelling method (DSM) proposed by the authors. This article discusses theoretically the thermodynamic background of DSM with seed particle which does not dissolve in monomer. It was clarified that the preparation of highly monomer-'adsorbed' polymer particles by DSM can be reasonably explained from the viewpoint of thermodynamic treatment under equilibrium and kinetic control states.
