摘要
W.G. Sebald's method of writing history is a literary montage. He reproduces traces" in his novels because they speak about the past better than any historical reconstruction. This text shows how Sebald's narratives read history as we read a sky map to identify constellations. This enables him to construct imaginary relations between authentic documents that belong to different historic temporalities. This is why the knowledge of history proposed by Sebald is specific to literature. © 2012 Taylor & Francis."
