摘要：

This paper measures the franchise value of Chinese listed banks within 1999-2006 with Tobin's Q method and investigates the impact of foreign bank entry on China's banking sector stability by examining the correlation between foreign bank entry and franchise value empirically. We find that the degree of foreign bank participation is positively related to franchise value and thus foreign bank entry has remarkable positive effects on China's banking sector stability. Compared with the share of assets, the influence of an increase of foreign banks in number is more significant on banking sector stability.
