The Regulation of Trafficking in Human Beings: The Slavery of the 21st Century

The subject of this work is the study of contemporary slavery (trafficking in human beings), its historical evolution, and the delimitation of the concept of human trafficking, its various forms, as well as existing international and national instruments to combat it. These practices are of special importance from multiple points of view, but in this article it is addressed especially from the perspective of Human Rights, since it supposes a breach of human dignity and a serious violation of the fundamental rights of the people. To overcome slavery has been a strong desire of society for many centuries, which is why different regulations and instruments were developed to fight it. However, today more than ever, we face a significant increase of human trafficking, which becomes one of the greatest challenges to the protection of the dignity and freedom of people in the 21st century.
