PRAC: A Software System to Solve the Resource-constrained Project Scheduling Problem

This paper reports on a software system which focuses on the solution approach for the classic resource-constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP). This problem aims at the construction of a precedence and resource feasible project schedule with a minimal project duration. Our system allows project managers to design their project by editing activities and resources, exhibiting structure by Gantt chart and optimizing project schedule by Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm (PSO). Furthermore, we implement a simulation model which can help project managers to adjust the schedule accordingly and can effectively avoid uncertain risks.
