摘要
Zeolites are possible alternatives for the preparation of aromatics bearing an alkyl group in the position meta to an electron withdrawing substituent. This is shown for the isopropylation of methyl benzoate. The zeolites studied are Y, Beta and Mordenite. It is shown that upon narrowing the zeolite pores, the selectivity towards alkylation decreases in favor of propene oligomerisation. This can be explained on a mechanistic base and/or on the sorption properties of the different structures.
