Seismic behaviour of eccentric braced frames with partially restrained semi-rigid connections

摘要
Eccentric braced frames having diagonals placed in a V configuration (VEBF) and short links are considered. The frames are designed having links yielding in shear and beam to column top, bottom, and web angle connections fully restrained in shear and partially restrained in flexure. Criteria for plastic design of shear links and simplified formula to predict stiffness are given. Static and dynamic step by step analyses of seismic behaviour of one-storey eccentric braced frames are carried out varying the mechanical characteristics of the connections and the length of the links. The influence of stiffness and strength of partially restrained semirigid connections on the seismic behaviour of the structure is stressed.
