摘要
There are many methods available for face recognition. Some of them use local descriptors. The paper explores the possibility of using a new local AG descriptor, derived from a dependent-effects model, for the face-recognition function. A face recognition system is developed that builds a bag of words from calculated AG descriptors and uses a SVM classifier. The system is tested on publicly-available databases. Some other popular descriptors are also tested.The recognition scores of the AG descriptor are similar to those of other tested descriptors. In some tests, the recognition scores are higher. The AG descriptor proves to be a good alternative to other descriptors.
