摘要
The basic mobile IP will face a number of challenges when the mobile nodes are far away from home and with micro mobility and the number of mobile nodes grows rapidly, because the signaling overhead associated with Internet mobility management and the loads of home agent will largely increase. Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6) is proposed to solve the micro mobility problem. However, HMIPv6 is sensitive to the MAP failure and prone to heavy loads, which will finally corrupt the performance of system. In this paper, we propose an adaptive MAP selection algorithm to construct the dynamic location management scheme. The adaptive MAP selection algorithm will choose the proper MAP for the visiting mobile nodes according to the MAP's load and distance vector, the mobile node's velocity and session arrival rate. The loads of MAP are balanced and the robustness of hierarchical structure increases. We implement the dynamic location management scheme in simulation platform and compare the performance of this scheme with that of two static location management schemes. The simulation results show that the dynamic location management scheme is capable of balancing the signaling and traffic loads of MAP and decreasing the average handover latency.
