Structural and magnetic properties of CeAlxSi2-x and CeAlxGe2-x alloys

摘要：
We have investigated the magnetic properties of CeAlxSi2-x and CeAlxGe2-x for x = 1, 1.2 and 1.5 by magnetisation, low temperature heat capacity and resistivity. For x = 1 and 1.2 the alloys have the alpha-ThSi2 type structure, but for x = 1.5 the alloys have the hexagonal AlB2-type structure as reported earlier in the literature. Ce ions in all the alloys studied in the present work show normal trivalent behaviour and order magnetically at low temperatures.
