摘要
This paper deals with the performance analysis of a solid state Marx generator tested with two types of gate drive circuits. The output pulses obtained from the two methods were compared with respect to parameters like amplitude and rise time. Certain applications require coupling of the Marx generator output to an Antenna for transmission purpose. The bandwidth requirement makes it necessary to have rise time of the output pulse to be less. The rise time of the output pulse depends largely on the inductance of the Marx circuit at the time of discharge. It also depends on how fast the switch turns on which in turn depends on the gate driver circuit employed. A simulation of three stage 300 V, 5 is solid state Marx generator in Proteus software is done and satisfactory results are obtained. A prototype of three stages, 300 V Marx generator is fabricated and tested with two different gate drive circuits and it is found that using self-driven gate drive circuit rise time can be reduced.
