Postoperative Management of Ectopic Ureter Injury After Robotic-assisted Radical Prostatectomy: A Case Report

A 66-year-old male, with an undiagnosed duplex system, underwent a Robotic-assisted Radical Prostatectomy that was complicated by an ectopic ureter injury. Given the incidence of less than 0.001%, management of ectopic ureters for patients undergoing a RARP is foreign to most urologists. The delayed presentation lead us to opt for selective angioembolisation of the hydronephrotic segment. Symptoms completely resolved and a follow up scan showed resolution of the hydronephrosis as well as hypovascularized parenchyma of the upper moiety. A literature review was done along with this example of non-surgical management of a rare RARP complication. (c) 2020 Elsevier Inc.
