Layer upon layer: A facile extended Stöber method has been developed for the synthesis of diverse metal-carbon spheres, which includes core-shell-structured Ag@carbon, rattle-type Ag,AgBr@meso-SiO2, and yolk-shell-structured Ag@carbon@meso-SiO2 (see figure).
