This special issue of UNISCI Journal focuses on the growing inter-state rivalry in Africa and aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the role of the various State actors on the African continent, covering the role of the former colonial powers, the growing expansion of China and the rise of new actors with political and economic interests on the continent.
