摘要：

Water is source of all sorts of life and river is the mother of human civilization and thriving species. So the river health is very important to all species being lively. The paper will present indicators of healthy river and summarize from natural ecology, river situations around the world and baseline indicators, etc. In the same time, the paper will give examples of groups of indicators that have been used for specific purposes, as well as the condition and needs of the Yellow River.
