摘要
Generally, the I/O device speed was slower because each guest domain was not well considered to be executed on virtual machine monitor (VMM). In other words, the guest domain has some problems in the architecture of communication and data transmission on VMM. The I/O device virtualization models in virtual machine (VM) environments require involvement of a VMM and/or a privileged VM for each I/O operation, which may turn out to be a performance bottleneck for systems with high I/O demands. This paper explores the relationship between domains in a Xen and I/O performance. We find the causes of those problems and suggest a new design to improve its performance. We propose a new device virtualization model called Xen-bypass I/O, which extends the idea of OS-bypass originated from user-level communication.
