Incommensurate Phases Induced by Electric Field. Case of Ferroelectric Phase Transitions

摘要
We shall consider a proper ferroelectric phase transition. The x and y components P-1 and P-2 of the polarization vector Pi are the order parameter. We assume that this parameter is transformed according to two-dimensional physically irreducible representation (i.e. mathematically reducible to two complex-conjugate representations). External electric field E-3 E, which is directed along the principal axis of the crystal, induces the Lifshitz invariant (IL-invariant). This invariant has the form
