摘要
Traditionally, the technological design of sheet metal forming was limited to competing locally for customers. Currently, the connectivity of the Internet and World Wide Web allows manufacturers to offer their services globally. This research is focused on developing a new system where a remote user can design sheet metal forming process. The remote design system is run on the platform of the World Wide Web (WWW). It offers several advantages to the conventional stand-alone approach. Users are not limited to a specific platform or location, and maintenance of the system is considerably simplified. The Java programming, Web database, ASP technologies and Network computing are applied in the system. In the design environment, user can inquiry technical data, take some process analysis, download some vector drawings of standardized parts and components, optimization of blanking layouts etc.
