摘要
There's a conflict between the significance of natural and cultural value of tourist destinations and the negative environmental effects caused by tourist activities. Successful management for environmental impacts and sustainable development of destinations are meaningful only on a basis of effective tourism environmental monitoring (TEM). In this paper, the author analyzes the status and trends of tourism environmental monitoring in terms of monitoring contents and procedures, monitoring indicators, and monitoring techniques, especially highlights the application of remote sensing and GIS technologies. This paper may call for the attentions of associated agencies and academies, and provides some references for settling the key problems in tourism environmental monitoring.
