摘要
Fundamental knowledge of frictional phenomena in cutting processes is elemental for their further development. Both pin-on-disc and open tribometer are able to replicate the sliding velocities and contact pressures during cutting to some extent; however, open tribometer can simulate continuous sliding against freshly regenerated surface. In this paper, the influence of kinematics on the friction coefficient measurement has been analyzed, considering exactly determined contact and lubrication conditions. The suitability of both methods for simulating the friction in cutting processes is discussed, and an applicability area is proposed for both methods, leading to a better modelling of cutting processes.
