摘要
The purpose of this study was to determine the neosporosis seroprevalence in dairy cows and the importance of this pathogen in the aetiology of abortion in Republic of Serbia. A total of 500 serum samples of 63 farms in 40 locations from 8 municipalities was analysed using a commercial ELISA kit. The overall individual seroprevalence was 4.60% whereas the global herd prevalence was higher (26.98%) and neosporosis was detected in all municipalities except one. The neosporosis herd seroprevalence was higher in commercial farms (50.00%) than in smaller structures (22.64%) but the individual prevalences were similar. In addition, among 27 blood samples from cows which have aborted stemming from 11 farms, 7 positive samples belonging to 2 farms where some dogs were frequently in contact with cows were recorded and the frequency of circulating antibodies was significantly higher than in randomly selected cows which have not aborted. Results of the present study showed that N. caninum plays a significant role in the aetiology of abortion in dairy cows in Serbia.
