Numerical simulations of laser-generated guided waves in hollow cylinders

摘要
Numerical simulations are presented for laser-generated guided waves in hollow cylinders. The laser pulses are assumed to be radial incident on outer surface of hollow cylinder with axis-symmetry in order to restrain generation of torsional modes. Instead of using classical integral transform, the method of eigen-function expansion is employed, by which time-dependent displacement at the outer surface of hollow cylinders will be expressed by summation of longitudinal and flexural modes. This formula is particularly suitable for analyses of generation efficient of each guided mode.
