摘要
The mechanism of the CH3OH oxidation on the Pt/C and Pt-Ru/C electrodes has been studied by the cyclic voltammetry and potential oscillation. It is found that the rate of the CH3OH oxidation depends on various adsorbates such as CHOHads, COads, OHads and O-ads on the electrode surface. When the coverage of both COads and OHads is relatively high, an auto-catalysis occurs by oxidizing the bridge-bonded adsorbates into linear-bonded COads, which produces more vacant sites. Both the formation of the OHads and desorption of the COads are a couple of competitive reactions. This can lead to the potential oscillation. And the diffusion of the CH3OH in the solution affects the rate of its oxidation as well.
